Pressure Relief Valves
Pressure Relief Valves
A pressure relief valve is a small component with a big job. When flow is suddenly restricted, such as when a spray head or shut off valve is closed while the pump is running, pressure inside the line can spike within seconds. Left unchecked, that surge stresses seals, fittings, hoses and the pump itself. A correctly set relief valve opens at a preset pressure and diverts excess flow, keeping the system inside its safe operating range.
On water trucks working across mine sites, road works and dust suppression runs, this protection matters every shift. Relief valves guard against pump cavitation, reduce the risk of burst lines and help extend the service life of the more expensive components downstream. Cavitation in particular is a silent killer, eroding impellers and seals over time until performance drops off and a rebuild becomes unavoidable. Fitting the right valve is a low cost way to avoid an unplanned breakdown in the field and to keep water on the job when you need it.
